Go into the Roca Foradada,
the sea cave in the Montgrí Massif

Corsari Negre Roca Foradada

One of the most popular trips on the Nautilus Adventure is the route that goes around the Medes Islands and then along the Montgrí Massif coast visiting the coves and promontories of its maritime coast such as Punta de la  Barra, Punta Salinas, Cap d’Utrera and the beautiful Cala Pedrosa, to finally arrive at a magical destination: the Roca Foradada.

The Roca Foradada is in fact an open sea cave located on the coast of the Montgrí Nature Park. The Nautilus boats visit it in both winter and summer as it is a permanent route for the glass-bottom boats. Under its surface, you will discover shoals of fish and other marine fauna which inhabit the Costa Brava.

Another way of reaching the Roca Foradada is by walking through the Montgrí Massif; a beautiful trip which we highly recommend to explore further the Camino de Ronda between Estartit and l’Escala. Or if you prefer, you can do the journey in smaller boats like catamarans or kayaks, only for the more adventurous!

Whichever route you take, the Roca Foradada is a little gem of the Costa Brava that we are privileged to be able to visit aboard Nautilus. Don’t miss it!

Learning in the Medes Islands.
Educational resource guide for schools

Mero en les Illes Medes

Education and respect for the environment are two of the basic pillars of Nautilus. The ecosystem of the Medes islands, with all the species of marine flora and fauna which live in the Montgrí area, is perfect for educating younger children about the importance of caring for our natural environment while they have fun learning about the birds, fish, posidonia and other inhabitants of the Medes Islands Nature Reserve.

At Nautilus we have special offers for schools so that the beauty and biodiversity of the Medes Islands is accessible to their pupils. We have educational activities, teacher manuals, guides showing the different species of animals… Everything you need to have a fabulous day on board Nautilus and discover the undersea world with your classmates.

Also, the friends of Montgrí Nature have a brilliant file full of resources for schools, such as ProDidactic videos and El Mar a l’Escola activities, where the marine biologist Manel Gonzalez visits schools to teach about marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

You can request more information on educational activities and our learning resources for schools on the Medes Islands on our contact form. Hope to see you soon!

Presentation of the Ítaca Festival programme on the Corsari Negre

Festival Itaca Corsari Negre

The fourth Ítaca Festival will take place from 29th May to 3rd of July.  The Corsari Negre was chosen as the place to present the festival programme, in order to have the fabulous backdrop of the Medes Islands.

Artists like Ramon Mirabet, bands from Torroella, Acció and Tingladu, and a final performance from the Oques Grasses all came aboard our great pirate ship. The main attraction of the festival will be the Argentinian musician, Andrés Calamaro who will close the festival with a single concert on the Costa Brava.

The Ítaca Festival has been filling different towns in Empordà for four years now with the best music and using very special tickets – apples! – in order to avoid the excessive 21% VAT on culture. This year, Estartit has a prominent place in the programme, because on the Verbena de San Juan (evening of 23rd June), the Oques Grasses will give a free and popular concert with the Medes Islands as a backdrop.

We are hugely grateful to the Ítaca Festival for placing their trust in us for the presentation of the festival programme this year. We are surrounded by music!
